Depression is a very important issue that should be dealt with properly. People don’t actually realize how much of an impact depression has, not only on the person suffering from it but their loved ones and people that care about them.

Depression is feeling severe sadness and loss in interest of things you normally enjoy. Depression can be caused in many ways such as stress, grief and loss, drugs, poor nutrition and more. Stress is one of the most common causes of depression because having that overwhelming feeling and not able to do everything at once can cause depression. According to Nancy Schimelpfening who is the president of a depression sanctuary, “Stressful life events, which overwhelm a person's ability to cope, may be a cause of depression.”

This can happen because of job loss, divorce, financial problems, and more. Not everyone has a perfect life, but everyone has their own set of problems no matter how they live their life. But they shouldn’t rip their hair out because of it. Sometimes it’s hard to do certain things at a certain losing a loved one is something difficult to get over so this causes grief and after time you’ll heal and the grief will go away and if it doesn’t it can lead to depression. Pace or a certain time, life isn’t easy which is why everyone needs a break at some point. Another way depression can be caused is by grief or loss, According to Nancy Schimelpfening, “Following the loss of a loved one, grieving individuals experience many of the same symptoms of depression. Trouble sleeping, poor appetite, and a loss of pleasure or interest in activities are a normal response to loss.”

“The symptoms of grief are expected to subside over time. But when symptoms get worse, grief may turn into depression.’’ He said all Hopefully there is someone there to help through this tragic time in your life but it hopefully always gets better. Lastly another causes out of many causes of depression is poor nutrition. Having poor nutrition can cause depression in multiple ways. It can have to do with the how fatty the food is or it can cause physical appearance that isn’t up to your standards. According to Nancy Schimelpfening , “A poor diet can contribute to depression in several ways. A variety of vitamin and mineral deficiencies are known to cause symptoms of depression.”

“Some studies have found that diets either low in omega-3 fatty acids or with an imbalanced ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 are associated with increased rates of depression. In addition, diets high in sugar have been associated with depression.” Everyone has different preferences when it comes to anything especially food so some people choose to eat really bad and some people choose to eat really good but in the end it affects everyone differently. Some people eat to certain standards for their physical appearance and others don’t care but sometimes when people just eat what they like they might end up looking a certain way that they don’t like which can lower their self esteem and cause depression.

Depression is a serious issue that may make someone feel like there is no way out. Which may contribute to the reason why people don’t speak out about their depression. Even though they might feel this way there are ways of curing depression. Two that might be the most common way of curing depression is by psychotherapy and medication. According to Ranna Parekh who is a medical director, “Brain chemistry may contribute to an individual’s depression and may factor into their treatment.” For this reason, antidepressants might be prescribed to help modify one’s brain chemistry. When suffering from depression all kinds of thoughts are going through your head, and you think with your brain, therefore taking antidepressants can help kind of tone down your thoughts so no hostile or terrible thoughts or ideas can go through your head. The last way to cure depression is by participating in psychotherapy. According to Ranna Parekh, “ Psychotherapy, or “talk therapy,” is sometimes used alone for treatment of mild depression; for moderate to severe depression, psychotherapy is often used in along with antidepressant medications. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has been found to be effective in treating depression. CBT is a form of therapy focused on the present and problem solving. CBT helps a person to recognize distorted thinking and then change behaviors and thinking.” Therapy is a common but good way to cure depression for the reason that it can modify and affect the behavior of someone suffering from depression. What this means is if you think in really hostile or negative ways therapy can help you think more positive. Same thing with behavior if you harm yourself or act in any negative way depression can help fix this.

Depression is very hard to deal with and is a very serious issue but the thought of giving up shouldn’t occur because with the right help depression can be cured.
