Summary

We don't have to be divided. Let's let our differences bring us together.

America is a mess. Everyone has an opinion and thinks everyone else should have the same opinion as them, and then gets really mad when someone has a different opinion. No one can agree on anything, and the country is practically tearing itself apart. It doesn't have to be that way, though. Everyone has their own opinion, but that doesn't mean we should look down on different opinions. Refusing to compromise our principles will only serve to split the nation down the middle. And then what? The halves will find something new to argue about, and then we'll have four separate groups, each one squabbling with not only the other groups, but with itself. Having different opinions does not give us permission to shove our beliefs down other people's throats. This country was founded on the principles of freedom, but forcing others to accept your beliefs robs them of their freedom to have and express their own opinions. Don't get me wrong, expressing your opinions is great, but there's a difference between expressing your opinion and being a total jerk about it. Discussions about differing opinions should be respectful, not heated arguments where any good point can be overwritten by the other person screaming loud enough. Instead of fighting, we should allow our differences to bring us together. Every person has something that makes them unique, and instead of getting angry about it or telling them there's something wrong with them, we should accept them as they are, with all their flaws, real or perceived, because that is what will truly bring us together as a country.
