Summary

Every American has a dream and dreams can change the lives of people everyday. With enough determination and passion a person can achieve anything they put their mind to.

¨The lights are cut off but you’re still looking at your dream, reviewing it every day and say to yourself: it’s not over until I win. Life will yield to you.¨ To me this quote written by Les Brown, is what it means to be an American, never stopping until your dreams are fulfilled. But an underlining part in having a dream is passion and integrity. Everyone has a dream, hence why America has the nickname of the land of opportunity. All Americans are given the right to express themselves freely, but to me the right of free speech and the right to assemble are the most crucial in allowing the people to obtain their dreams. Consider the Civil rights act during the 1960's, the minority population all had the same united dream and that was equal opportunity. They went through hell and back, constantly fighting for their rights to be seen as equals not as someone who is judged based on the color of their skin or what sex they are. This event and many others are clear expressions as to why I believe having dreams, passions, and integrity makes a person an American. Without passionate dreamers there would be no diversity in the way people think. Dreamers make a difference in America every single day no matter if it's only a small change. So my final question is, Are you passionate and determined enough to make a change for something you believe in or are you going to sit back and observe as the world changes around you?
