Journalistic Article

For my Journalistic Article, I decided to do a topic on COVID-19 and interviewed my 13 year old little sister about her opinions towards when we had to do quarantine, online school, wear masks, etc.

                                                                                                      COVID-19

Are you surprised by how long it has been since COVID-19 has happened? The year that COVID-19 happened in the US was the year of 2020, still continuing on to this year’s 2022.

Today, I have decided to interview my 13 year old little sister about her opinion towards quarantine, masks, and the three different types of school we experienced. Some questions that I asked her was “What were some positive things that Covid did for you?” Her response was “During quarantine, the positive things that Covid did for me was that I had time to think for myself and my future. Another question asked by me to my little sister was “Did you like how the school was before Covid started, or did you like doing online school when COVID-19 happened, or do you like the way that we are going to school currently with masks on?” She answered with “I enjoy wearing masks every time I go out because it feels like a safety thing honestly, and I like to be covered up as well so I would say that I prefer or like the way that we are going to school currently because of that and also due to me being able to see my friends at school.” The last question I asked her was, “How was quarantine like for you? For example, having to stay home so much due to COVID-19, did it make you less productive, did it make you more introverted. That kind of stuff, my little sister then replied with “It was honestly boring, but I also enjoyed the time I spent in my house and bonding with my family. I also learned while having to stay at home for quite a long time, being considerate of the usage I used and other essential power systems around me so it was a new experience that I was glad to experience and take a part of. I also felt that I have grown so much more self control and improved both mentally and physically so it was again, a nice experience to have gone through at least for me.”

Here are some other things that I would like to share with you guys about Covid. Have you ever been curious if you have been exposed to or currently have Covid? Here are some of the answers that will give you the answer to that. 1- Fever or Chills 2- Cough 3- Shortness Of Breath or Difficulty Breathing 4- Fatigue 5) Muscle or Body Aches 6) Headache 7) New loss Of Taste or Smell 8) Sore Throat 9) Congestion or Runny Nose 10) Nausea or Vomiting 11) Diarrhea. It ranges from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms also appear 2-14 days after your exposure to the virus. What I listed above is possible that it could not include all of the possible symptoms of having COVID-19. Older adults and people that have severe underlying medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes had seemed to be at the higher risk of developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness.

These are the other kinds of things that you could have the symptoms for and should seek Emergency Medical Attention. 1) Trouble Breathing 2) Persistent Pain or Pressure In The Chest 3) New Confusion 4) Inability To Wake or Stay Awake 5) Pale, Gray, or Blue-Colored Skin, Lips, or Nail Beds, Depending On Skin Tone. Again, this isn’t all of the possible symptoms but if you are experiencing other kinds of symptoms that are severe or concerning to you. You should reach out to your Medical Provider about it. If there is someone that you know that has or perhaps may, you should call 911 or call ahead to your local emergency facility : Notify the operator that you are seeking care for someone who is perhaps involved with COVID-19 or may have it.

The difference between COVID-19 & The Flu is that they are caused by different viruses. COVID-19 is caused by infection with a new coronavirus (called SARS-CoV-2) and the Flu is caused by infection with influenza viruses. COVID-19 spreads more easily than the Flu plus causes more serious illnesses in some people. It can also take longer before people show symptoms and people can be contagious for longer. COVID-19 and the Flu are both contagious respiratory illnesses but they can also be hard to tell the difference between them based on symptoms alone and testing would be needed to help confirm a diagnosis. There are slowly more things to learn everyday about COVID-19 and the virus that causes it, there may be still a lot that is unknown about it.
