Mental Health in Men
In this article I talk about the importance of men's mental health and why it isn’t talked about enough
According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the prevalence of mental illnesses in men is often lower than women. Different people respond to different mental disorders. For starters here are 10 different disorders. Depression. Depression affects millions of adolescents and adults across America and globally. Anxiety, ADHD, Insomnia, Addiction & Substance Abuse, Bipolar Disorder,Schizophrenia , and PTSD. When having disorders responding to it can be difficult, difficult to cope or even manage.
In men they have a persona they need to achieve. Like a front that has to be successive. Masculinity is a characteristic of a man. Toxicity. It can take over very fast and be very and utterly negative. Toxic masculinity in men mostly makes them think less about themselves and about the mental issues they are/were suffering with. It can more than definitely cause a strain on your health because it’s not normalized. When not talking about your mental health it does way more harm than good.
I talked to a teacher at Nettleton Junior High School about social anxiety. If you have social anxiety, which is anxiety caused by large crowds or people, it can be very hard to teach or maybe even to do “normal” communicating. As he said earlier in the day “ If you refuse to acknowledge the problem, it won’t solve it.” I think some men are scared of vulnerability. Being scared or nervous of being judged or taken pity upon for having a certain disorderThus
