Summary

Jillian K and Sydney E discuss Skyline, a very impactful and successful business that has skyrocketed over many years. There is no doubt when someone thinks of Cincinnati, their head goes to Skyline.

Skyline is a restaurant based in Cincinnati, founded in 1949 by Nicholas Lambrinides. He wanted to share his special recipe with others, chili made with a variety of spices and served on top of spaghetti or hotdogs. Today, Skyline serves as an institution of Cincinnati culture, but what truly is Skyline?

Nicholas Lambrinides was originally from Greece, where he learned cooking from his mother. When he moved to America, he dreamt of opening a restaurant where he would serve his famous chili. It soon became a place where family and friends could gather and enjoy a nice meal together, bringing people in Cincinnati together.

The most important part of any restaurant is, of course, the food. Skyline is extremely famous for their chili. The most common food option is the 3-way. A 3-way is spaghetti, chili, and cheese, with the option to add onions and beans which is the 4-way and 5-way. They also have cheese coneys, which is a hotdog with chili and cheese on top.

To truly understand, it’s best to ask the people who invest a lot of their time into this restaurant. For example, the workers. We first asked what Skyline is to them. “A family restaurant where people can come and enjoy nice food and the company of their friends and family.” Next, an important part of any restaurant, how is the atmosphere at Skyline? “Skyline is an inviting establishment that is fun and comfortable. Everyone is treated like family.” Finally, what do they think is the impact of Skyline on Cincinnati. “Skyline has a very positive impact on the city of Cincinnati. It brings the people together.”

In short, Skyline Chili is quite more than just a restaurant-it is what makes Cincinnati special. It stands as an important place for this city’s culture and people.
