Interviewee ~ David In His Third Year of High School

By Alistair R. from Academy of the Redwoods in California

“Mm, a memory from my life forever… I already forgot. I wouldn’t want this to be my definite answer, but I took a road trip with my family. It was like six or seven hours to a place kind of past San Francisco. I forget the exact name because we weren’t necessarily going to a city, but I don’t know, the road trip was just pretty impactful to me. It was one of the best times I’ve had with my family...I- I mean like we’ve never taken a vacation, but my parents are originally from San Francisco, so there was a time where at least once a month we’d drive there and back, or drive there stay a few days and come back. So, I mean I guess it’s a trip. I mean, I have left the state like ten times in my entire life, but it is not- not common. I’ve been on like one plane in my entire life and one too many. Euhhhh, why would you be on a plane when you could be on the ground? I like where it’s safe. I mean, cars are supposed to be more dangerous, but that’s because there are so many more cars than planes.”

“I would like to be some type of doctor. And that is something that I chose on a whim one day a few years ago that I just stuck with...Yeah, I think so. I’m sorry I should have said some person in the medical field. But I feel like it’s one of the only jobs these days where you can make a lot of money and feel good doing it. Like, you’re not screwing somebody else. I don't wanna have a lot on my conscience when I die.”
