“I was 7 years old when we first started foster care. My parents worked hard to learn how to support these kids who’d gone through so much. I have one sister and one brother biologically, so bringing in more kids was kind of a lot. But was something that changed my life forever. I will never forget the first night we received the call that there was a child in need of a home for a while. While this had its challenges, it was fun and exciting as there was so much love in our home. I still remember the night we had to say goodbye to a baby we spent almost a year with. It was so hard. however this journey led to a life changing event when we adopted my littlest brother Colton. He came into my life when he was eight months old. I still remember the day we adopted him, he was almost two. He completed our family. He has autism and is the most creative, loving, smart, and crazy kid I know. He’s changed mine and my family’s lives forever.” -Madelyn Conley
