A situation that changed a person's outlook on life.

By Cora Henner from Academy of the Redwoods in California

“ We were in a razor, there were 4 seats. There was me, the guy that was driving, my mom and the two people in the back. We started driving and went up this big hill about halfway up… the wheels came up off the ground and we rolled backward several times. We got stopped by a tree. My mom and all the people got knocked out of the car, but I stayed in there for some reason. So we went to the hospital at 10 pm until 4 am because my mom almost died.”

“ That situation made a click in my head. I was going through a time where I wanted attention. I was devoid of that… I just wanted that back in my life… I was depressed. I basically had a turn around in my attitude, because I was like, ‘ dude, if I would’ve died I would’ve spent my whole life just doing stuff to get attention from other people instead of working on who I am as a person.’ So I really feel that helped me form my own opinions. Just become my own person.”
