Malia recalls her fond memories

By Benji K. from Academy of the Redwoods in California

“One time I shot fire out of the ground and it was really scary... We had a well. We were digging a well and umm we dug 400 hundred feet down. There was steel like tubing all the way down into the ground 400 feet. And my dad and I were just like oh my gosh we should drop a glowstick down there. And so we dropped a glowstick and it stuck to the side for some reason because the inside of the tube I think was damp. And so my dad runs into the house and he’s just like oh I have a great idea. He runs into the house, grabs a sparkler, lights it on fire, drops it in the tube, and my brother was leaning over and it shot fire up. It probably went like 6 feet up. And my brother’s arm hairs got singed off.”

“I want to be remembered as inspiring. I want to inspire people. That’s just it makes me feel really good when I know that I’ve inspired someone or I’ve had a positive influence.”
