Summary

Interview with Burt Samples

”We were poor, but always happy. I spent a lot of time in Hughes Springs where I lived till 7, with my granny during the day. My early childhood was very loving and supportive until my parents divorced when I was 7. My mother made us move 30 mins away, and it was a struggle for me being away from my father and his parents. Making friends in a new town was pretty difficult, especially being the poor kid no one knew. My grades struggled, and I was told several times by teachers I wouldn’t amount to anything. Still to this day I think about this, and it drives me.”
