Get To Know Your Neighbor

An interview with Ladean Blackhair.

By Kaylia B. from Zuni High School in New Mexico
  • What was the last gift you gave someone?
  • “A turtle, like a ceramic turtle. I gave it to my auntie and uncle for Christmas. I painted the turtle myself and it was hard to paint because I really don't like painting.”
  • How do you think people would communicate in a perfect world?
  • “They would not judge you and they would say positive things to you. I would say positive things about people too.”
  • What advice would you give to your future self if you could?
  • “I would tell my future self 'Always spend time with your loved ones because you don't know when they'll pass.' Something else I would say to my past self is 'Try your best, and when you sometimes feel like giving up, just try your best.'”
  • What is the kindest thing someone has done for you recently?
  • “A person gave me his playlist so that I could listen to it. The kindest thing I did for someone was when I told them that I would be there for them when they’re sad.”
  • Do you think you will miss high school? Why or why not?
  • “Yeah. I will miss high school because I’ll miss my friends.”
  • If you had a time machine, would you travel to the future or back to the past?
  • “I would travel to the past so I could erase or look back at the mistakes I made in the past.
  • Describe the purpose of the Zuni people to someone from another planet.
  • “The Zuni people are really special. Our traditions are sacred and everything is sacred to them(Zuni People).
  • If you had to work, but you didn't need the money, what would you do?
  • I would give the money to a humane society because I really like pets.”
