Humans of Zuni: Kristyn Eriacho

How sports have gotten Kristyn through lifes hardships

By Nariah Kallestewa from Zuni High School in New Mexico

“I consider myself to be very athletic and I enjoy participating in school sports year round. I started participating in sports at a young age. As I was growing up I watched my older brother participate in basketball. The excitement of the games and how the sport was played is what drew me to the sport. My father’s family did a lot of running which inspired me to try it out myself. I began to love running cross country and it was one of the things I became passionate about. Some of my accomplishments when it came to sports that I’m most proud of is going to state in Cross Country and Track and field, and also making it to district play-offs in basketball. Sports have gotten me through difficult times, and have strengthened my mentality. For example, there was feuds going at home, going to practice was my escape from that. Sports also taught me how to problem solve and overcome hardships in life. Participating in sports has also given me confidence and has taught me that I can overcome anything in life. “
