Symbol of Freedom: Sun rising above Dowa Yalanne

My Symbol of freedom represents us A:shiwi people, not everyone sees, hears, or knows about us Zuni people. Because of our Yaddokya Datchu, the sun, we have freedom.

The picture I uploaded is my way of a symbol of freedom. When I heard the story about the great flood here in Zuni, According to my ancestors, there was a little boy and girl who stopped the flooding. They went the way to the top of Dowa Yalanne, the two standing rocks on top. The white lines on the mountain are caused by the water, the mountain, the two children. They saved us and gave us freedom, is how I see it. Dowa Yalanne is important to us Zuni people, I see the mountain as my freedom. I chose this picture because it also represents us A:shiwi people, not everyone sees, hears, or see’s about us Zuni people. Because of our Yaddokya Datchu, the sun, we have freedom.
