Summary

You will love our Big Y Supermarket!

Big Y in South Hadley is the closest store to me. It has great food and great people. Also it’s the biggest supermarket around and it’s a store that has a butcher shop it’s down the road to me they do breast cancer awareness. It was founded in 1936 by Paul and Gerald D’Amour the store was at an intersection of roads making a Y shape that's where it got its name (wow cool). Big Y is important. It helps people in many ways.

The employees do more than work at the store they volunteer their time and effort. Also the company encourages stores to join in employee community service day and each store makes different programs available to the town.

They have an annual scholarship program. A scholarship is for someone who wants to go to college. This program started in 1981. Scholarships are given to students who have done well in school. They give $6 million to over 8,200 students. Over $573,000 has been given to employee and their kids. They also fundraise for breast cancer. They increase breast cancer awareness. They also helped raise $3 million. Plus their manufacturers use special pink packaging.(https://www.bigy.com/community). It means that manufacturers will be donating some of the money they make from selling their products.

I like going to Big Y. When we go there we just go shop ping my dad and I and sometimes my mom. There are different size shopping carts. When they are in business they help the community. One memory I had was when I had Big Y Pizza at home it was so delicious it was at home I believe it was a pepperoni pizza I could be wrong it could be a cheese pizza. This is all why South Hadley’s Big Y is a super market! (Get it?)
