Summary

Littering is a big issue. Trash items like cans, candy wrappers, and plastic bottles introduce harmful microplastics into the environment. These microplastics can be eaten by small animals, leading to their death and increasing toxins in the food chain. Plastic waste can take 200 years to decompose, polluting nature. To protect the environment, people should avoid littering and pick up trash.

Amelia, Ohio, is a beautiful place to take a break from everything and just take a walk through nature. But there is one problem with this area. The trash.

Cans, candy wrappers, and water bottles. Even though you might not think that these are bad because of how small they are, that is why they are a problem. These types of trash are bad because they hurt our environment. They can leave microplastics in the environment. If small animals eat these plastics, they can die.

For these reasons, we should strive not to litter. If we see trash on the ground, we should pick it up. People may not think that small candy wrappers are a problem, but that is what makes them a problem. They introduce microplastics into the environment. Microplastics are tiny pieces of plastic not visible to the human eye. When these microplastics are introduced into the environment, they cause the amount of toxins in the higher parts of the food chain to increase.

Plastic water bottles and cans take up to 200 years to decompose. Small animals like to chew on these. When this happens, the amount of plastic in the environment builds up rapidly. Overall, littering does not help anyone or anything, which is why people should not litter. If you see trash on the ground, pick it up.
