Summary

"How do words, symbols, or rituals express the American creed?" This piece shows that despite any federal powers in place, citizens must stand up for what they believe and take an active role participating in democracy just as the framers intended.

We as a society cannot always have as much control over government affairs as we like. In the modern world, the power of the executive has grown. It can feel limiting and oppressive, yet citizens were given powers of their own; we can help each other, lift each other up, and use our voices to change America. It can feel like we are fighting a system that is set up against us, but this is ignoring the original meaning of the constitution and the critical role we play. We utilize this, and we can bring "Liberty and justice for all" in this "Land of the free and the home of the brave".
