My American Creed

My piece is about what America is about, and what we can do to make it better.

By carissa j. from Hazen Middle School in North Dakota

When I think of America, I think of freedom to be who you want and do what you want. Like, say you want to be a doctor when you grow up, but you’re poor. If you work hard, you can be a doctor. America is a beautiful place where you can make your dreams come true.

How can America be better? I say stop the criticism and hatred over people that are different. Give back to the people who really need it. It just rips me apart to watch the news these days (not because it’s boring); it’s because all we see are riots and bombings.

How can America be better? By forgiving others and most importantly forgiving yourself.
