Humans of Sophomore Honors: Christy Wilson

For my Humans of Sophomore Honors project, I interviewed Christy Wilson. She talked a lot about her family because family is important to her, and some of the happiest moments of her life.

By Jenica H. from Eureka High School in California

“The happiest moment of my life was deciding to stay in Eureka and go to Eureka High because my mom moved to Santa Rosa. I was supposed to go to Santa Rosa High, but my mom let me stay with my friends.”

“The saddest moment of my life was leaving my mom in Santa Rosa. I have a baby brother on the way, and I don’t get to visit often, so it’s really hard being away.”

“I am Mexican, and I speak both Spanish and English. My grandparents came from Mexico to Humboldt which is why I am here. Family is everything to me.”

“I like how I can socialize with people and get along with them without giving bad energy.”

Our Democracy

The Our Democracy Education Project is a partnership with the National Writing Project and PhotoWings. PhotoWings' mission is to help photography to be better understood, created, utilized, seen, and saved. The project is also supported by the National Geographic Society and Catchlight, and explores the question, “What does democracy look like?” through the creation of a multimedia record of the state of local, everyday democracy today.
