Dear Family and friends of Deora Frances Bodley,

I am extremely sorry for your loss. I have learned so much about all the victims of Flight 93 in class this year, including Deora. Deora was the youngest victim of Flight 93, I found out while reading that she was only 20 years old. Deora was known for her love of reading, writing, and all things literature, as well as her independent and introspective nature. I know that Deora was studying French and psychology at Santa Clara University. Deora may never pursue her dream of becoming a child psychologist, but her bravery and resilience showed strength that is unmatchable. It takes guts to be able to put your life on the line for others' well being. Deora was a kind soul and volunteered for different charity organizations including the Special Olympics and the San Diego Zoo. The reason Deora was on flight 93 was because she had just visited some friends in New Jersey and was on her way back. She had always been a smart girl, even when she was just a child. Deora would constantly write inspirational things in her journal far beyond her age. Once, at only 11, she had written the words “People ask who, what, when, where, how and why. I ask peace." When it came to writing and reading, it was clear that Deora was wise beyond her years. Not only was she sharp, she was very mature as well. It’s said that she had always seemed older than her age. On Flight 93, she was definitely a part of the brave group of passengers fighting back. The group as a total fought back with handmade weapons and even prepared boiling water just in case. It was a struggle to fight the terrorists, but together, the passengers managed to defeat them. Deora and the others on Flight 93’s bravery showcased immense teamwork and courage. They fought terrorists that were trying to harm our country. These terrorists could have caused even more deaths and the passengers potentially saved us from terrible things happening in the near future. It is so important that kids like me get the opportunity to learn about Flight 93 and the brave people that fought the attackers. In conclusion, Deora definitely took part in fighting the hijackers. She had the brains and knowledge to help everyone in the plane fight back. Deora will forever be remembered for her acts of bravery and kindness.

Sincerely, Rose Goblinger.
