Summary

The Western Massachusetts Writing Project, in partnership with the Springfield Armory National Historic Site, is excited to host the Write Across America online marathon in October 2024.

This stop will be a nice introduction to Write Out 2024, with the theme of “Poetry For The Planet.” Write Out takes place October 13-27. More information about the larger Write Out project, and its newsletter, is available at the NWP Write Out website: https://writeout.nwp.org/

The overall theme for this stop is the Connecticut River Valley of Western Massachusetts, which has been home and a source of inspiration for many writers and poets over the years, including Emily Dickinson, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Lucy Terry Prince, Sylvia Plath, Sojourner Truth, Robert Frost and others.

About Write Across America

The Write Across America Virtual Writing Marathon is an online summer writing experience, open to anyone. Throughout the summer, local Writing Project sites around the United States provide inspiration, time to write, time to share, and a sense of community for all participants.

Here's how it works:

  • Each stop takes place virtually in the Write Now Teacher Studio. Signing up is free and RSVPing helps the host Writing Project sites plan each stop.
  • This platform is for publishing your writing. Again, signing up here is free and each stop has a unique code which you'll get at the virtual event for each stop.
  • You can post writing at any time.

Questions can be emailed to writingourfuture@nwp.org.
