Equal Rights for Me
Summary
A lot of people think that equal rights are nothing to them but to me, it matters. Not being the same color as my classmates made me feel weird, made me feel like I didn't belong. I've never really had a white friend because they always look at me weirdly thinking I'm an immigrant just cause of the color of my skin. I never thought it would be a problem until people would point it out by saying " immigrant" or " go back to your country", hearing these words come out of someone's mouth hurts especially coming from a white person thinking they have every right to be saying it.
I never had a problem with white people, but once I started hearing these things something changed. I know not all white people are like this but at that point it just changed my perspective on how I see them. A couple of years later I had a history class and they were talking about equal rights that everyone is not always gonna have equal rights and that you would have to fight for them. Before, people would fight for it with war but things have changed nowadays. My people have been fighting to get rights but we still get deported, arrested, and detentions. We just want to see our family and for us to get treated like this.
In the future, I would want things to change, so that we finally have equal rights and we can finally see our family and go on vacation wherever we want to go without having to worry about getting deported or caught. I know some people might say, " They can just get papers". Yes, they can but it takes months or even years to just get it. You can't do it for yourself, you're gonna need someone else to help. Other than that I want people to start treating us equally. In the end, we are all the same.
