My American Creed is very different than where the world stands today.
Today there is polarization among the country I walk.
Today there is disgust weaved throughout the politicians I am expected to vote for.
Today there are wars waging in countries overseas, and no steady solution.
Today there are violent protests expressing the turmoil our country has reached.
Today there is hate and racism even though all Americans are supposed to be made equal.
Today my family watches the news about a president causing more chaos and uncertainty.
Today I pay for disposable items that cost more than I can justify.
Today I am in a system where the rich get richer as the rest of us watch.
Today feels harder to accomplish than when I was a kid.
Today feels heavier and hurtful.
Today I recognize the trials and tribulations that history has put our nation through.
Today movies about the apocalypse and World War Three don't seem so far fetched.
Today I am defeated by what the future holds.
Will the future have a better president?
Will the future allow a couple of the same sex to feel accepted in society?
Will I always have to live to work?
Will I always be wishing for the weekends?
How can we make this country a better place?
How can we fix what is so broken?
My American Creed tells me this is all wrong.
My American Creed tells me this is no way to live.
My American Creed is different from where the world stands today, because the world isn't really standing anymore.
