Tycen B. and Trenton C. of Yreka High School explored the question, "How does/has land influenced your American Dream?" by interviewing three community members from different perspectives.

A narrative of how my immigrant mother overcame hardships to become American, relating to Gone with the Wind and the Great Gatsby, defining what American Creed is, defined by those whom belong to it.

What our group talked about was what it meant to be an American. We talked about our personal experiences, past history, and we also had to reflect off of what one another said.

To me, being American is much more than just being an American citizen or living in American.

For our American Creed project, we decided to interview our parents, who are immigrants, and showcase their ideas around what it is to be American.

With this essay, I was able to explore the realities of the American creed for minorities by incorporating the voices from various races and ethnicities. This essay also highlights the selectivity in our nation as to who gets utilise their voice and who doesn't; thus speaking out

This is what I think being an American is...

I discuss the ways we can reach the original American Dream by communicating with those with differing backgrounds and beliefs, and by joining together to make our voice stronger. I also discuss how we can become closer to understanding our American Creed by communicating.

I interviewed people in my community and asked them what the American Dream means to them. I got a wide variety of answers that mentioned the economic opportunities, freedom and rights, and even that the American Dream is a way of life.
