American Creed Argument

Posted by Jerrilee Montana

If you want to be able to have individual liberty and opportunity, you are going to come across struggle. We live in the land of the free but in order to have this, there will be struggles that come along.

American Creed:

American is the land of the free, some take freedom for granted. Mark Meckler is an American political activist and attorney. He was a co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots and currently serves as president of Citizens for Self-Governance. He is a hard-working American and works for what he loves, which is his country.

Being an American is a very strong meaning. In the American Creed film, Meckler says, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.” He talked about individual liberties. Individual liberty is freedom of people who are free from external restraint in the exercise of those rights which are considered to be outside the region of a government to control.

Mark Meckler and Condoleezza Rice both share the same values and ideas about equal opportunities. Rice, the former U.S. Secretary of State, says, “It doesn’t matter where you came from, it matters where you're going.” They’re both similar because they both share the same American political party, but though they have different views on being conservative. Also they both have love for their country and are trying to improve and make it better for the future.

What is being free? As Meckler points out above, the Constitution guarantees that every American is by right free and created equal. This is true but not all people understand what being free really means. Being free is about having the right to choose for the most part. Everyone has the right to choose to do what they want when they want. Now there are rules and you can break them by making bad choices, but these are your own choices that come with the right of being free. Any one person can do what they want.

Overall, after watching this video, I think we need to focus on struggle, Individual Liberty, and opportunity. I think all these things fall in the same place because if you want to be able to have individual liberty and opportunity, you are going to come across struggle. We live in the land of the free but in order to have this, there will be struggles that come along. We need to be able to deal with struggle and live with it or else it will make all this change. Just keep your head up and work for what you want and you'll be destine to get it.
