Summary of assignment: Students analyzed poetry focusing on structure, literary devices, and theme, using the book Legacy: Women Poets of the Harlem Renaissance by Nikki Grimes, a collection and response to female Harlem Renaissance poets.

Nothing gold can stay. Something good always has its temporal belonging and we move on from that goodness at some point is what they mean. Metaphors are something compared to another thing that's totally different. A metaphor in this poem could be, ¨to wear pain¨. Since we don't actually wear pain, we feel it. An allusion in the poem could be,  ¨In a song.¨ Although it doesn't say which it could be, a song could be any. When she said in a song she might have been saying shedding sorrow in a song or talking about people who made songs about that. Two themes found in the poem are acceptance and emotions.
