Summary

I choose to write about a local protest that happened at my school because I feel like it really shows democracy in our community.

To me, democracy means coming together. The definition of democracy is “the control of an organization or group by the majority of its members.” Democracy is very important because without it decisions wouldn’t be fair. Democracy is the rule of the majority. For example, every four years when we vote for a new president. The candidate with the most votes wins because that's what the people of the country think best.

We have this so people can have some sort of power over themselves. This photo shows democracy in many ways. This photo, it shows students coming together to protest something wrong for people who didn't have a voice. They all wore white and made signs. The students scheduled a walkout and stood in front of the school standing up against sexual assault and harassment victims.
