Love your Enemy

One major problem the world faces today is a general divide between different political factions. Politics, especially U.S. politics, is extremely polarizing to the average American. The divide between left and right has never been greater. This causes a great lack of communication and understanding between either side. The best way for us to be more empathetic and understanding would be to at least make an effort to understand people who disagree with us. Most major religions command that we must ‘love our enemy’. Even if we fundamentally disagree with another person, it is important to recognize that all of our thoughts and beliefs come from a different place than ours. We are all human beings. We should all have the same end goal. Even though a perfect society will never exist, not hating each other would be an excellent first step to making our world a better place.
