Summary

This is the story of my seven-year-old brother defeating cancer.

There have been many occasions when someone showed their courage. The most memorable, however, would be when my brother fought cancer. My brother, Phoenix, was just 7 years old when he was diagnosed with leukemia. This was shocking and created a very scary and tense time. Phoenix was set to have a three-year treatment plan. My mom and he had to make frequent trips to Fargo, which is two hours away, just for his treatment. This often left me at home alone or with my grandma because my mom would stay with my brother while my stepdad worked. When the two of them would come home, both of them would be exhausted. Phoenix would get sick after his appointments. He was throwing up, having stomach issues, and so much more. Eventually, Phoenix lost his hair. We all cried over that one. He missed a ton of school and was bedridden for many days at a time. Phoenix missed out on a lot of his childhood due to cancer. At just seven years old, my little brother fought cancer and successfully beat it. Childhood cancer sucks, but with the support of family and medical staff, my brother is now better than ever.
