Summary

The following work talks about the important values of American creed that exist to this day. There is no doubt that the values written in the nation’s documents are still in use today. By reading this piece, you will discover how well America has kept these values throughout these years.

The concept of promoting general welfare is an act of giving and supporting fellow Americans with what they need to survive. The founding fathers understood that America won’t succeed if people don’t succeed and the only way to do that is by promoting general welfare. American leaders support and promote this idea of general welfare through people’s attempts to establish a successful healthcare system. The effort made by former president Barack Obama with his Affordable healthcare and our consistency in fighting for universal healthcare. We can see this today in Medicare and Medicaid. Today we uphold this value by our goal to have universal healthcare and programs such as the Red Cross.

Franklin is saying that happiness only comes with gratefulness and hard work. Hardwork is a core value in America today. It is often heard that joy and success come from hard work. For example, if one works on becoming good in a certain area and going to college for it, he will gain knowledge in that subject. Thus, he has set himself up for a life of success and happiness. Doing nothing leads to emptiness while doing something leads to fullfillment and happiness.

Government cannot at all influence or make laws affecting any of these factors. In American school today, religious groups are free to assemble after school in a room and not worry about the government intervening. Today, this is how Americans recognize the value of freedom or freedom of speech as the most important right. The top picture shows that the following factors under the tag democracy cannot be changed or affected based on the government’s decisions. For examples, it would be against American democracy for government to ban a certain religion or one group of people’s right to assemble.

Jefferson is saying that promises of freedom are only fulfilled if our leaders keep the constitution. If a law comes out against the constitution, freedom is under threat. Today, American value is appreciating the Constitution. By appreciating the constitution, we uphold it and make laws that agree with it. This in order that Freedom may not be taken away which is our most important right and value. For examples if we have a leader that wants to promote unconstitutional laws and completely ignores the constitution, are freedom is then under threat. This quote shows how important it is for American leaders to value and uphold the constitution in order to ensure a country of true freedom and democracy.
