The Actions That Show Your American Creed
Summary
How can you express your American creed through action?
While America stands for many things, freedom and opportunity stand out to me. The freedom to do whatever you want and the opportunity to be whoever you want is crucial to my life and the lives of many Americans. In my hometown of Long Beach, California I was able to experience the feeling of my communities American Creed through a wide variety of individuals. The actions that my community took reflected what they believed it meant to be an American. Your American Creed can be expressed through action since action reveals where you choose to spend your time, what ideas you support, what motivates you, and even the decisions you make in your day-to-day life.
To begin, your American Creed can be expressed through action since action reveals where you choose to spend your time. Based on where an individual spends their time it can tell a lot about the type of person he/she is. If said person is involved in many activities or even participating in service events you can pick up on the fact that they care about their community and others around them. If where an individual spends their time can exhibit all of this information then most likely it can exhibit his/her idea of their American Creed. When I was growing up I had a babysitter who I called Mimi. Mimi was very old and well off so I always questioned why she needed to work as a babysitter. This was not an easy job because my brother and I were quite a handful and she was with us every day for around 6 hours. As a kid, I was not aware but slowly as I grew up I realized this job expressed her American Creed. She believed that family was important. She wanted to make sure every child was loved and had people close to them who would help if anything was wrong. She embraced the saying that "it takes a village" and she was part of my village.
To continue, your American Creed can be expressed through action since action reveals what ideas you support. Ideas and morals are a foundation for what you believe in as an American. All action has an effect and people tend to participate in action that aligns with their ideas and values. With this concept in mind, action can directly express the American creed of others since it will carry out the values of others. On a personal note, my family strongly supports lgbtq+ rights. A year ago my mom attended a float in Long Beach's float parade that showed support for this group. The action to attend this float shows the morals and values that my family believes in. My mom's American creed was shown through joining a support group in this parade. To show your American creed an action like wearing red, white, and blue or flags that show a view on different topics can reveal the ideas of the American Creed in others.
Furthermore, your American Creed can be expressed through action since action reveals what motivates you. Motivation is a strong factor in pushing people to act when they want to or when they need to. Your American Creed can bleed through this motivation since your motivation will push you to act in a way that supports your American Creed. For example, if you are motivated to pick up trash off the ground whenever you see it, your American Creed ideals of wanting America to be a cleaner and safer place are shown. Simple actions such as picking up litter in your environment can express your American Creed.
Finally, your American Creed can be expressed through action since action reveals the decisions you make in your day-to-day life. The decisions you make shape who you are and what you take part in. American Creed is affected by these decisions because you can not express yourself and your Creed without making the decision to take part in this expression or decide ways to live your life that show your connection to America. Protesting is a great example of a decision you can make to express your American Creed. Deciding to do something selflessly for the benefit of America is a task that exhibits how much a citizen cares about their country. Protesting is the foundation of the United States and to participate in this action you express the positive relationship between yourself and America, your creed.
In conclusion, your American Creed can be expressed through action since action reveals where you choose to spend your time, what ideas you support, what motivates you, and even the decisions you make in your day-to-day life. The American Creed of Anyone can be expressed in thousands of different ways. Throughout my life, the actions of others have shown me the relationship the people have with America and what the public believes America is all about.
