Summary

My American Creed is about immigration, perseverance, and education.

The United States is a country made up of immigrants. Unlike many other countries, it doesn't have just one nationality. People from all over the world have been migrating to North America for a very long time. These people have come to America for many reasons, like escaping religious persecution, looking for new opportunities, finding wealth, and escaping monarch-rule.

After the migration of people into America began, they started working. They needed to plant crops, herd animals, build communes to survive, and plenty of other tedious tasks needed to be done. The United States has been based on the principle of hard work since the beginning of migration. These immigrants worked to make a better future for themselves, their children, and the community. This is known as the American Dream, and this term came to surface in this time. The American Dream was born to capture our own “Pursuit of Happiness.”

In a PBS show called "American Creed Community Conversation - American Dream," Ron Felton from the NAACP said, "the American Dream for many people is to be successful." But success can mean different things. For some, it's raising a family in a good environment, or not being judged by skin color or language. For others, it's about money or social status. All types of success have one thing in common - the drive to achieve it. Everyone wants more than what they had when they were young. People have always tried to make things better by inventing new things, being competitive, and moving away from a basic life. Josh Narrow, a George Washington University student refers to the idea of perseverance, saying that perseverance is what has always made America what it is. It has allowed us to endure tough times and come out stronger on the other side.

Education is key to reaching the American Dream. It helps people get better jobs and earn more money. While money isn't the only measure of success, it can help people move to safer neighborhoods and provide a better life for their families. If everyone doesn't have access to good education, not everyone has the same opportunities. Many prejudices come from the idea that one race is better than another, but with equal education, everyone has the same chance. The U.S. education system is struggling. Many schools don't have enough funding, which means they lack resources for students. Without proper education, future generations won't reach their full potential, and the country will suffer. To help more people achieve the American Dream, the education system needs more funding and improvement.

My American Creed consists of the fact that America was built on the back of hard work of migrants right when they showed up. My Creed also consists of the perseverance and success of Americans. Lastly, My American Creed consists of education and how vital it is for Americans to succeed.
