The Symbols of America represent our shared values and bring us closer as a nation

"A picture is worth a thousand words."

This powerful phrase greatly displays the impact of symbols in representing a nation like America. They define us as a nation, bringing us together and connecting us through shared values and ideals. They can represent all kinds of ideals and beliefs, from valor, patriotism, and bravery, to liberty, freedom, and the American dream. Symbols display American culture more prominently than words ever could, and there are four chief symbols of America that truly define us as a nation.

The American Flag is a symbol that openly shows the history and ideals of our country as a whole. The thirteen stripes and fifty stars show the progression of the nation, moving from where we started to where we are now. The colors of the flag show the deep-rooted beliefs that we collectively hold, from the valor and bravery of the red, to the purity and innocence of the white and the vigilance and perseverance of the blue. It displays all the characteristics that are quintessential to every American, and it is a powerful symbol of the past, the present, and the long standing beliefs of America.

The Statue of Liberty is another amazing symbol of America, effortlessly displaying the liberty and freedoms that all citizens are able to enjoy. Being the first thing that immigrants were able to see when traveling to their new home, it showed how they were free of their past burdens, and were now able to start their new life, pursuing the American Dream. It represents how all citizens of America are equal to one another, and how everyone is given a chance to create the life that they always wanted in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

The Bald Eagle is yet another great symbol of American culture, and displays the deep-rooted values of all Americans. It represents strength, valor, perseverance, and pride, which are all essential values to being an American. America is built on the values of hard work and dedication, meaning that if you can put your mind to it, then you can do anything. This is what the American dream is all about, and the bald eagle represents this dream perfectly.

Finally, Mount Rushmore is the final symbol which shows some of the incredible history of great and influential American leaders. While American history is deeply flawed, Mount Rushmore displays the incredible leadership that has shows through throughout generations. The presidents that reside in the Black Hills are all incredibly great leaders, and all of them greatly impacted, improved, and preserved out democracy, the most vital component of our nation.

All in all, these four symbols are fantastic representations of America, displaying the ideals, beliefs, and components of our nation that we all hold dear.
