My American Creed
My American Creed is passion and the effects that it can have on the world and one's strengths. Arguably, passion is the one thing that America as a whole can agree on. Without passion, there would have never been countless movements to base the American people's ideals on, and lead to balance and unity.
Without passion, Martin Luther King Jr. would have never contributed to the Civil Rights Movement. Without his morals and hatred against injustice, his crucial role played in dismantling and challenging the horrors of segregation would have never occurred.
Without passion, books would never be read or written, plays would never be acted out, historical documents would never be analyzed. The crucial role that passion plays in one's life is essential to their future path that they choose, and if they choose to make a difference in the world, passion will guide them in order to accomplish their goals.
If it weren't for passion, Greta Thunberg would have never stepped outside in front of Sweden's parliament and skipped school to protest for stronger action on climate change. If she had not given a care in the world for the health of the planet and her country, the School Strikes Movement would have never taken flight, with around 6 million people attending the protests as of 2019.
In Pakistan, Malala Yousafzai had the passion for education ever since she was a little girl. She loved books and learning with a burning passion, and when the Taliban started to destroy the right to education for women, she fought for her education back. This also inspired many young activists all over the world to speak up against injustice. Without her love for education and her passion for knowledge, she wouldn't have become an activist and an inspiration for young women around the world.
Articles and protests, marches and boycotts would not occur to make a positive change in the world if it did not start with one regular person with a dream, and the passion to make a difference. This ideal can even be shown in personal lives, not just famous leaders who have made essential changes towards peace and unity. Many Americans would not have a job that they thoroughly enjoy without passion, they would just be robots in a cubicle working at an office job that makes printer paper or desk lights. With passion, people find what they enjoy working on the most, whether that be welding or serving in the military, or being in cosmetology or teaching. Even if they don't find it until later in life, passion keeps people alive; it gives them the strength to keep pushing through even when times get rough.
Overall, passion is my American Creed due to the effect it has on the world, and how it can be one's last resort in a world that disappoints from time to time. It keeps people going and provides a foundation to keep one's head up. Without passion, America would not be the unified and peaceful country that it is today.
