My American Creed
The American creed is defined as those core values and principles that our country was founded upon. Ideals such as humanity, equality and liberty are these things that make up american creed. So when I say that my American creed is based off of sports i support my claim with saying no matter where you are in your life a sports team may be the answer, ranging from elders to the youth people who play together, build chemistry and learn to fight and solve problems alongside one another.
The first claim I will have is one that is personal, and appealing to humanity. So When I was a freshman in highschool, I didn't really know much of anyone, walking the halls by myself and always keeping my head down. However when my wrestling season came around I was able to find a group of people who really liked me. Of course it took some time but as our team became more and more used to each other, we found that our aspirations were the exact same and we could help each other achieve common goals if we worked hard together. The final thing I think is so important about everybody supporting each other on the wrestling team is it gets you through the tough times. The reason I bring this up is because one In this part of wrestling many people cut weight. So when my friend was cutting about 10 pounds to wrestle a 126 lb he went through the ups and downs of wrestling. Of course we couldn't cut the weight for him but we were there to help and that's why wrestling brought me closer to everyone around me and helped me find my identity.
The next example I have comes from a story from outsports.com, title of this article is "Athlete Agender brings lgbtq sports stores geared towards kids with helpful messages”. Throughout the story you read that no matter how different somebody may be in their hearts and in their minds they are just the same as you. The article says no matter how you dress no matter how you feel as long as your aspirations and ideas towards the main goals you share are the same he will find a closer and closer together through tough times and struggle. I believe this is so important because it shows the world that everybody is the same and equal together.
The last piece of evidence I will use is from the movie Miracle on Ice. The reason I bring this up is because when a group of young boys on the USA hockey team was fighting against a communist Russian team. their sense of Liberty took over. winning over the emotions and spirits of these teens helping them conquer the major Hill they had to climb and defeat the Communist Russian team. That movie appealed to the humanity of these kids showing that their aspirations and hard-fought hours on the ice weren't for nothing. so through time Humanity and Liberty came out on top because of these boys' American creed.
As I explain my sense of American creed through Sports, I feel as if there is more to this than just the connections and achievements people can achieve on the field. I think That it can also translate to off the field. In the classroom many people can work hard amongst each other and share the same goals in the classroom as they do on the field.
