My American Creed

Unity and acceptance are two things that really stand out to me when I think of American Creed.

By jeremiah s. from Gerstell Academy in Maryland

My American creed is the ability for all to be accepted for the things that make them unique. America should be a place where people of all different races, religion and gender can come together as one. America is known as the land of the free because no matter who you’re you can set up a new life for yourself. I feel like we have gotten away from this and that’s really becoming noticeable in these last few months. As a country there has been multiple acts of police brutality against African Americans, instead of everyone standing together to try and fix this problem many have turned it into a political issue. Every life should be valued the same and until we can all come together and stand for something how can we be considered one nation?

In America all thoughts and feelings should be accounted for respected equally, that’s why it’s so important for people to vote. Either democratic or republican you must vote to get the people who best represent your beliefs in office. Hopefully after this election we will have a leader who can begin to unite our nation again and fix the damage that has been done over the last few months.
