The pursuit of happiness

My piece is about pursuing your happiness. I discuss several song lyrics that connect to my beliefs about happiness.

By Silas from ASU Preparatory Academy in Arizona

My american creed is happiness and here I am showing how happiness is expressed through song lyrics by various artists. Happiness is what every American needs to learn and understand to have because if everyone had it in their life the world would be such a better place.

I believe that happiness is the key for everything because with happiness everything is just better, and I believe every american should be able to experience happiness. There's a song line that J. Cole says which is “No need to fix what god already put his paintbrush on” Which is stating that no matter how ugly and bad you think you look you should always be happy with what you have. Another musical line I found that connected back to my american creed is a Tupac Shakur lyric “Forgive but don't forget girl keep your head up” And what he's saying in this is that even though you're feeling very gloomy and down about something you should always keep your head and you spirit high. A line I found by Bob Marley is him saying “smiled with rising sun” and what he's saying in this is that when your smiling with the rising sun you're almost thankful just to be alive and live another day. And my very last two lines are both by J. Cole in one line he says “No such thing as a life that's better than yours” and the other is “for what's money without happiness” and in these two lines he's implying that nothing in this world is better than the life you're given and even if you make a lot of money it will never fulfill your happiness because whats money to someone if they aint happy.

My American creed is happiness because I believe that every american should express happiness someway or somehow no matter if its through other people or just them learning it by themselves. Go out today and spread happiness through your actions and your words. Listen to a friend that's having personal struggles. Jam out to your favorite song. Be grateful that you're alive. Pursue your happiness today.
