My acrostic poem is about what it means to be an American to me and all the qualities an average American should have.

In order to understand how my family has affected the way I view my own American creed, I conducted interviews with my mother, father, and grandmother. Ultimately my goal was to figure out, connect, and contrast on how my family history has affected my American Creed.

To me, being an American is my sense of community, my opportunities, and my individualism. Being an American is to overcome. More importantly to overcome as one, united nation.

An interview with my Grandfather who grew up in Italy during World War II, and moved to Canada when he was 18 to live the "American Dream", but in Canada, and his views on how the Ideals and Creeds of western nations have changed since he came over.

I gathered these images of friends, family, students, and acquaintances to try to put a face to our American diversity. I used the flag as my theme, as it is such a unifying symbol for Americans, often regardless of their creed.

The equal opportunity of furthering education is important to many. The act of making sure the path is open to all is essential to American.
