Summary

Students analyzed poetry focusing on structure, literary devices, and theme, using the book Legacy: Women Poets of the Harlem Renaissance by Nikki Grimes, a collection and response to female Harlem Renaissance poets.

“Unseen” means things are missed all the time including people. “Unseen” means to open your eyes and be more aware of who you are around and what is happening in your life and others as well. A metaphor is comparing things to directly unalike things. Metaphors are used in poems for exaggeration. Metaphors are used in poems to give an example kind of. The lit device used in the poem is structure. What structure means in the poem is organization. It also means clean format. It connects to the themes and messages by making it a clear straightforward understanding poem. The structure of the poem is AA BB CC DD EE FF. One theme found is cherishing others we are around another theme found is to not be so oblivious.
