Summary

A letter to Thomas E. Burnett Jr's family.

Dear Family of Tomas E. Burnett Jr.,

I'm from West Virginia and this year we learned about Flight 93. We learned so much about the memorial and the individuals that put other people's lives before their own. What Thomas Burnett did was such a heroic action. Even though we do not know what happened on that flight, I am sure that this amazing man was right in the middle of the fight to take back over the plane. What all forty individuals did on the flight was unforgettable. United Flight 93 had more time to act because it was delayed at the airport for morning traffic. What happened is still tragic, but if this flight wouldn't have been delayed maybe they wouldn't have known that the other three planes had already crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Then these heroes may have not been able to act. Thomas was a husband and a dad to three wonderful daughters, he was also the Vice President and chief of the Thoratec Corporation. Thomas’s company was a manufacturer of heart pumps that shows you something in itself. The words that Thomas said on his phone call from Flight 93 were so memorable. I know that it is so hard without Thomas. I know you all miss him very much. He was a fantastic husband and father. I know that I did not know him personally but from what I have read about his amazing story he was a wonderful person.

With sympathy, Jadelynn Barber, Barrackville West Virginia
