Dear family and friends of Todd Beamer
Family of Todd Beamer,
After doing research on Flight 93 I had found that your family member, Todd Beamer was a victim of that horrible day. I learned that he was raised in the Chicago area and graduated from Wheaton College. Initially he was going for a masters in medicine before switching to business. He also played on the basketball and baseball teams while attending the school. He was hoping to go pro in baseball but found out that was not his true calling. So after he graduated college he became an account manager for Oracle, a computer software company. Even though he was a hard working man, the thing that he was most focused on was his family. On the day of 9/11/2001 he was traveling to San Francisco for a one day business trip. He was even planning to fly back that same afternoon. He left his home in New Jersey at 6:15 AM saying goodbye to his wife, Lisa. Who he got married to on May 14, 1994. Todd had a total of three kids, two boys David age four, Drew age two, and a third on the way. Todd was thinking about going the day before on 9/10/2001 but he decided to stay and spend more time with his pregnant wife, and his kids before leaving. He was a hardworking man of God who even played on the church softball team. After the hijacking of Flight 93 he tried to reach his wife Lisa on one of the Airfones on the plane, but the call failed. After the call failed he called an operator who said that he calmly provided critical information about events on the plane and relayed messages from his pregnant wife. The operator also recalled that he said the lord’s prayer on the phone and the operator joined. The operator said that before the phone was hung up he heard Todd say “Are you guys ready? Okay, let's roll.” It took a total of 20 minutes for the passengers of Flight 93 to realize what was happening and jump into action. 9/11 was a tragic day throughout the world. Even though it was a horrible day, your family member Todd Beamer, and all the other passengers on the plane, will be remembered as a hero. The war following 9/11 lasted 20 years after the tragic incident. There were also big changes to the safety and of air travel, and the Patriot Act that affected our country after. Todd Beamer will always be remembered as a hero who took a courageous role in leading the passengers to revolt against the hijackers.
Sincerely,
Landon Hoskinson
