Infinite Opportunities

Living in America means that you have infinite opportunity to be whatever you want. All you have to do is follow the law in America you are allowed the resources you need to reach your goals in life. That is why many people come immigrate to the U.S and refer to it as a land of opportunity.

One reason there is so much opportunity in the U.S is the education. There is free public education for everyone. If you perform well in school you have a chance at a scholarship for higher education. If you get a college education you can choose a major to qualify to reach your desired career. Once you have done that you have probably reached the point in life you wanted to be at when you came to or were born in this country. Some people want to achieve something besides an academic or a career goal. There is also freedom to strive for goals such as professionally performing something nonacademic such as a sport. In the U.S. you have the freedom to spend time perfecting your craft at any activity you choose to spend your time on. That is just one part of why there is so much freedom to strive for greatness in the United States.

The main reason there is so much freedom in the United States is the U.S constitution. The constitution and all of its amendments give us many of the rights we enjoy today. The amendments to the constitution modernized the constitution to fit with the evolution of the country’s customs and beliefs. In the beginning there was very little rights for minorities and women but now thanks to the development of acceptance in today’s society in the U.S. Many amendments to the constitution made in the past have contributed to this. Nowadays you can protest for what you believe in because of the first amendment. This makes it easier to fight for what you believe in and in turn get the freedom you wish for assuming that it is within reason. This all ties in to the opportunity to reach your goals in the United States. Many other countries are not very accepting of people being different or not fitting the basic outline of what a person should be. That could lead to you not getting the same treatment or opportunity as somebody who does meet those set standards. In America however being a little bit different is not only tolerated it is encouraged to a certain point. That is just one more reason why America is the land of opportunity.

In the end, there is many arguments to why there is and isn’t a lot of opportunity in America. However, if you wanted to leave your home country to achieve something great elsewhere where would you go. If you think about it the United States is one of the only places where you can get respect for any artistic or academic ability you have no matter who you are. That is why you have infinite opportunity in the United States.
