How does your family & community history connect to your American creed?

Both sides of my family came to the United States sometime in the 1800s. Both families wanted the American dream but went about it differently. My extended family is an example of many families who came to the United States to be part of this growing nation and live the American Dream

My father's side came from Ireland and immigrated to New York to find jobs in the city. My mother's family came from Germany and Welsh and went down to Tennessee to work on farms. Even though they lived in diverse locations and worked different jobs they both strived to be the ideal American family. My mom's side were farmers on rural land and my dad's side lived in New York and worked in the city and somehow they both ended up in Ohio in the end. People throughout history have strived to live the best life they can in America but my family shows that it doesn't matter where you start you can work your way up to provide the best life for your family. White-collar and blue-collar jobs might seem very different but with hard work and determination anyone can make the best of the situation they are in.
