America is freedom, opportunity, diversity, individualism, culture, and the pursuit of happiness. America has many characteristics which sets us apart from the rest of the world. People leave their lives behind in hopes of starting fresh and a brighter future. People flee from danger and tyranny to escape the harsh realities of life.

America is a country where you can follow your dreams, where the only things that are stopping you are yourself and pride and determination. Many people in other countries are not as fortunate to share the same opportunities as Americans do. Although the paths for some might not be as easy for others, anyone can have dreams and aspirations of becoming a lawyer, professional sports player, politician, teacher,or artist. Dreams that are big like purchasing your first house, or dreams of sending your team to the state championships, are all achieved from hard work and dedication, no dream is too big or too small.

America is home to many ethnicities and races which diversifies our people. We used to be a nation in which everyone looked and spoke the same, only representing a small fraction of the human kind. A melting pot as what people describe America is exactly the way to describe us. Everyone has their own cultures, and shares values with family and friends. Holidays are celebrated differently from household to household like during the winter many different holidays like Christmas, hanukkah, kwanzaa, chinese new years, and others.

America looks after their people, the injured, the poor, the old, the blue and white collars, and just everyone in general. From the government funding and programs, to the kind gestures of charity events, and the people. We have many different governmental run programs such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, and so many more. There are also tons of charity organizations like the Red Cross, The Salvation Army, and many more. Also on the daily there are people who take time out of their day and do kind gestures like volunteering in soup kitchens, raising money for research foundations, mowing someone's lawn, or helping old people cross the street. I have personally seen and been a part of these kinds of events, and it makes you feel so good hoping you made someone else's day just a little bit brighter. These charity events and aid are just one of many reasons why people migrate to America, cause not many countries are fortunate enough to have millions of kind people, and strong organizations devoted to leaving America better than it was yesterday. The small gestures can go a long way for some people, from feeding the homeless to raising a million dollars for cancer research.

Freedom is what sets aside America from the rest of the world. Some but not all countries have the same range of freedoms as we do in America. What allows us to be so free, is our liberties and rights granted to us in the Bill of Rights. In places like in the Middle East they have troubles where people are being arrested and executed for practicing their religions, whereas in America anyone can freely pray and follow their religion. We can openly speak and make choices on our own behalf, and not be oppressed and arrested for saying what we believe. We can choose where we want to live, where we want to go to college, what car we want to purchase, and do many other things. People can live freely and with peace of mind knowing that they are in control.

America, land of the free and home of the brave.
