So how did I get here anyways?
Summary
Throughout my life, my family history has impacted me in many ways. The way I grew up and the practices I took have shaped me to be who i am today. My parents raised me to never stop getting back up no matter what knocked you down. My American Creed was shaped by my family history and what generations before me achieved and the challenges they have pushed passed to have the Mayer family name get to where it is today
The theme of never backing down or stopping has ran my entire life. Since the moment I was born 16 weeks early and was fighting for even another minute alive as i spent months upon months laying in a hospital with a team of doctors watching over me waiting for a buzzer or light to go off to rush in and save my life once again. Although I don´t remember it, The actions of the doctors and all the team that helped me make it out of being a premature birth alive has inspired me to never stop fighting and push passed anything that stands before me.
I also recently started to look back on my family history and saw the same theme of never giving up. One example of this is my Great-Grandma GiGI. GiGi was the youngest of 12 kids and had to fight her entire life in poverty. GiGi's story of never giving up comes from the years of the Great Depression and the habits she picked up she stuck with her whole life. An example of these habits is that she would steal the jam and jelly packets from any resutrant she sat down at due to the fact that she felt she needed too. GiGi would also keep a pot of coffee on the stove and heat it up whenever anyone wanted any, this pot would be made on monday and kept the entire week.
