My American Creed

My American creed is rooted in the values that define my identity and guide my life. As Americans, there are values we are set to follow and live by that are an essential part of our lives. Part of being American means having pride in who we are in our country, having the freedom of living your own life, and the ability to create change to better benefit your own life. Throughout our country, we are given opportunities to succeed, but you must take advantage of these opportunities to benefit both yourself and your country.

Part of living in a great nation is taking pride in the values we hold as Americans. That is giving thanks to the family members, friends, and neighbors who have served to protect our nation and keep us safe during the toughest times. It can be simple enough as standing for our national anthem and removing your hats as you honor thoughts who have risked their lives to serve for the value of others. It may be hard for some to acknowledge that they are going into the services not knowing if they are even going to make it back and be able to live their normal lives. Many of my family members have served in the military and even though they made it back to their families they were not the same person when they returned. They encountered many obstacles and challenges the average American does not have to face. Pride comes with passion and spirit from oneself thanking the men and women who have allowed us to live our lives as many have not experienced.

The ability of being an American is given the freedom to live out your life the way you want. It is often thought that you are forced to achieve goals or meet stereotypical standards in your life, but in reality, you can find your path in the world. You can choose where you live, what car you drive, or the career path you want to take, there may be setbacks along the way but one can progress through any challenges they face. You can define who you are and what it means to be a citizen and better our country with great independence.

Although one may have been put into the situation to achieve or in the environment to fail it is at the face of one's own to take on their challenges. People may be along for the ride to see where life takes them, or they can push for great success and strive to better themselves. The ability to create change comes from a driving force within someone wanting to better the environment they are in and to allow them to prosper. It may be difficult to change the perspective of how people go about their lives frequently leading to a standstill in how one can go about this process. But with determination and great motivation one has the ability the achieve change at any level they feel is necessary in the world.
