Summary

If you wanted to know what it is to be an American, then this is what it is to me.

A true American, is like an unexpected mystery. This comes together because America is a kind hearted community with people that will usually help someone, out if they have the time. They are favorable citizens of America, and they do what they want to do. Most importantly, if you’re a real American, then you’re going to make mistakes. Not one single person is perfect.

First of all, if you’re an American than you will take at least the 15 seconds to cheer someone up if they feel depressed. You might even be generous enough to donate to charity or to homeless people, but every little thing you do counts. I tried to help someone out that was having a really bad day, and their response really changed me. They told me that I made their day and really helped them out. Just the tiniest things really do help, and that’s what Americans do.

Furthermore, when you’re in America you are free to make your own choices, but those choices come with responsibilities. An American doesn’t just do whatever they want and expect to live an easy life. Americans do what they think is best for them, and they make the choice. It’s their say in what they want to do. Americans know the choice that will have the most positive outcome. In a lot of biographies with important Americans, the character regularly ends up living their life how they wanted because they are free to make their own choice.

Lastly, the most important aspect of your life that would show if you are a genuine American, is not being perfect. No one’s perfect, and we just have to live with that. It’s okay to make mistakes because we learn from what we do. If we didn’t make mistakes, the world would be insanely different. People’s mistakes are what make them whole. Any American has made a mistake no matter the age. In Fact, our country's community, and government has some of the worst mistakes possible, but we just learned to move on.

In conclusion, it’s clear to see that there are many aspects to being an American, whether it is being kind, choosing your life choices, or not being perfect. Although America may seem superior to other countries, it’s actually better that there are different types of political, social, and economical forms to life. Everything being different keeps the world in balance. That's what it is to be an American.
