What It Means to Be an American

What it means to me to be an American

By Nick G. from Morehead Writing Project in Kentucky

What it means to be an American

I love to live in the nation that is free

When I can make my life according to me

Thanks to the people that got us to where we are

I now live under the 50 stars

We are having some hard times

But for the choices I make they are all mine

It will get better it always does

Our leaders will bring us back to what it was

Loving your neighbor no matter who they are

Supporting homemade brands; buying American cars

We will be who we want to be

I love to live in the nation that is free
