Summary

My response to the first prompt “What is your American Dream?”

My American Creed is the concepts of freedom of speech, right to vote, and the pursuit of happiness. These concepts are the identity of the American people. They define who we are as a country. They are what makes us the home of the free. They are what fuels the American dream.

Our freedom of speech allows us to fully express ourselves. It inspires change, diversity, and communication. It allows us to share our thoughts, to improvise, and to innovate. It is what fuels our country and the people in it. To share who we are to one another. To assemble and protest. Our freedom of speech is what makes American citizens who they are.

Our right to vote allows us to influence that change. Voting allows us to take that expression given to us by our freedom of speech and put it into action. We are able to choose our leaders for the future. We chose who is going to represent us as a whole. We can also run for politics as well. We can make that change that we aspire to.

Our ability to pursue happiness allows us to be who we want to be. We are able to pursue a higher education if we want. We can choose the career field we want to go into. We can give meanings to our lives in our own unique ways. Where we live, how we live, and what we do is up to us. We have to choose to pursue what we want.


These factors are what makes my American creed. They are what makes us unique as Americans. As Thomas Jefferson said “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. These factors are what makes us Americans, American.
