How I express my American Creed through action
Summary
How can I express my American Creed through Action? I express my American Creed through action by dedicating my time to organizations such as Key Club, Youth Philanthropy Foundation (YPF), and National Honor Society. Through these volunteer organizations, I am able to spend my free time, unite with those in the community, and help work on a project that makes the world a better place overall. By connecting with my peers and collaborating on various service projects allows me to express my American Creed. Example of service projects I’ve completed or participated in include Feeding Souls, an ongoing weekly service project that takes place at a local church kitchen. Feeding souls is from 6:45 AM to 9 AM every Saturday. Through this project, I was able to help prepare meals for hundreds of homeless people in the Cleveland area. I was able to find a place of community and do something for those in need. Another example of a service project I’ve completed or participated in is Respite. Respite was held at a local church. A night for parents to have a few hours off and their children to have a few hours of fun. The children had special needs and aged ranging from birth up to 14. We offered so many activities in different rooms. For example, a movie room, karaoke room, bouncy houses, game room, and so many more. This night allowed me to connect with my community deeply and make new friends. Through my actions here with the Respite, I expressed my American Creed. Another example of a service project is the Thirst Project. The Thirst Project is a huge organization within Key Club that raises money to build clean water wells in Africa. Many fundraising events take place over the year and our school managed to raise over $100,000+ over the course of four years for this project. The thing all these service projects have in common in the fact I didn’t necessarily gain anything directly from them. And that’s what American Creed is really about. Donating your time and energy to complete volunteer work while simultaneously gaining unity, friendship, and bonds with your community. That, is my American Creed.
